Founded in 1961 in support of the Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies (IHGS), Achievements is the longest established centre conducting professional family history research. It is through the (IHGS) that all our genealogists are fully trained and qualified.
Our extensive library has been built up over fifty years, and is housed in our medieval premises in Canterbury's Northgate. The library resources range from the most up-to-date finding aids and publications, to original collections of Tudor and Medieval manuscripts and deeds. These provide Achievements’ professional researchers with a unique advantage when carrying out family history and related research.
An “Achievement of Arms” is a full heraldic display including the coat of arms, the rest and the motto. The name “Achievements” was chosen to reflect our research in heraldry. It also reflects the achievements that we make every day in building family trees for our clients!
“Thank you for the wonderful research on my family tree...there’s no way I could’ve learned all your ‘tricks’! I especially enjoyed learning about General Meredith, who appears to have served in the early days of convict colonies in Australia.”
